The Jaripeo is a spectacle that arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain and later in Mexico.
It is considered to be the antecessor of the Charreada and the Rodeo that were originated in the central and northern states of Mexico and later became Mexico and USA national sports respectively.
The Jaripeo is an important part of any celebration not only in Guerrero but in other Mexican States.
The events that take place in a Jaripeo are the bareback riding of wild horses and bulls.
