Porfirio Diaz Mori was born in Oaxaca City on September 15th 1830. After a successful career in the military, Diaz fought his way to the Mexican Presidency wining a civil war against President Lerdo de Tejada. He assumed the Presidency for the first time on May 5 1877.
Diaz governed Mexico until 1911. During his government Mexico for the first time since its Independence enter a period of order and peace that created economical stability.
As years went by the system beneficiated only a small minority and every social disagreement was immediately suffocated. His Presidency ended in 1910 when the Mexican Revolution initiated. He and his family went to exile in Paris, France where he died in 1915.
